They were blessed to have Robbie as a songwriter. And Robbie was blessed to have not one, not two, but THREE incredible voices to carry his songs through.

Carl you absolutely right! Levon became so famous because Up On Cripple Creek made the radio. I know because I was there when it happened, and yes When asked they all would say Richard was the lead singer. All you have to do is listen the their early stuff! But Each singer has songs that I cherish my favorite being "It Makes No Difference" by Rick., it makes me wanta cry every time. it was Danko's Masterpiece! Of course this is all my opinion and I've only had one for 60 years.

Douglas you really don't know what your talking about. First of all Robbie was not a main vocalist,! Richard was the true lead singer then came Levon , and The incomparable Rick Danko! Because of Up on Cripple Creek's success it was played on the radio! I had their album and even had them on 8 track in my GTO in 1971. WhenLevon was asked who was the lead singer his answer was always Richard Manuel, and by the way his rough edges as you called them were not apparent when in the studio.
