Catching a 50lb Wahoo while high speed trolling at 11kts off of Palm Beach, FL

    Go back to Bass fishing and gator huntin'...LOL!

    It was a 50# fish caught while high-speed trolling with 50W gear. 30# test doesn't work for high-speed trolling and there's no reason to remove the rod from the rod holder (unless you like losing fish).

    Because we wanted to catch the fish! ;-)

    Seriously though, we were high-speed trolling and there's a 2-3lb trolling weight in between the fish and the rod. If you slow down too much or stop the boat the weight creates a belly in the line...which gives enough slack for the Wahoo to shake the hook(s) loose.
