Diamondback Terrapins, wakening from a long winter snooze, began emerging from the primordial ooze of Outer Cape salt marsh channels on Saturday, April 25th. The Turtle Journal team documented the emergence of a male and female terrapin from Wrong Step Creek south of Lieutenant Island. The spot is well named because with one "wrong step" a person would disappear forever beneath the quickmud. Terrapins burrow under the ooze from early October to late April each year on Cape Cod.
