  • Cohen is not rejected Tolle's teaching. Cohen is saying that the next stage after enlightenment (freedom from the world through development of the deeper awareness) is to Become a concious creator of the world. It is the next stage after enlightenment.

  • Brilliant. Seeking personal enlightenment without any concern for other beings or the Earth is just another form of selfish desire. Like drugs, to some enlightenment is just another form of cowardly escapism, they are motivated by fear/ego, not love/authentic self. We are here to make the world a better place, though many don't want to face that. Andrew here points out well the absurdity of the position of moral relativism, "no shoulds", expressed by the questioner. & Go Vegan if you care!

  • . Only by realizing the self, you can actually start being productive... Fight between activism and passivism in history indian philosophy has been going on for last 2000 years , Ramnuja Vs. Shakara... modern time, Nithyananda is achieving and creating so much with the same with philosophy of being...

  • i think what he is saying is very rational but still theoratical..... he argue that if completely realize "being" for the whole time, we would be completely passive and would not accomplish anything in material world. however if you look at great masters, like Buddha, with his philosophy, he influenced kingdom. same with Acharuya Shankra/Ramananda.

  • this is half an hour of ego-driven rambling. Cohen has no idea what is enlightenment is. how can there be a higher enlightenment, and a lower - it is one consciousness?!?

  • Some people will hide inside of buhdism

from the west to escape the responsibilitys of there ancestors who inslaved the land and people they use knoledge incorrectly to escape consumerism laws that unjustly ponish the poor the people from the civil rights movement truly had the courage to change the world instead of free just there souls like a spiritual marine leave no souls behind :) start with kids in the inner city truly give in order to receive:)

  • "urgency is nature, the pulse to create" enlightenment in our modern world happens at the moment of our death if and only if we are prepared....cohen i belive is preparing us for that battle that departure that becoming.

  • haldor72, Excellent observation. These teacher have a lot of wisdom to give but the very manner in the way they speak of enlightenment shows they are not enlightenment. Regardless, they do have a lot to offer and that shouldn't be overlooked. But spiritual masters they certainly are not:)

  • doncollione, Don't know why you got marked down. The supreme realization when the ego is completely annihilated is that "It alone is" There is nothing but He, IT, Self. You are right. The problem is with guys like Cohen, Tolle, and many like him who speak of enlightenment but have no clue what it is.

  • thank you
