you take it as if the only reason for homelessness is being lazy and not saving up.
In my country, there was a professor with a phd and during the war his wife and kids were killed, he was traumatised and lost his mind and became homeless.
There are people with lots of backgrounds, and people are people, they make mistakes.

Helping people is always good. But the only homeless people I feel sorry for are those who were born with real mental illness. The others are where they are because of their own actions. If someone doesn't have the motivation to get off the street than they don't respect themselves. And if you don't respect yourself than you can't expect, nor do you deserve, the respect of others.

why(in god's name) would you think that the community kicking in to help our brothers and sisters' eliminates your choice to contribute more.
