  • Can anyone tell me is this was recorded as a movie/dvd or was it a live performance? If it was a live performance, it is wonderful the way these two relate to one another instead of singing straight to the "audience." And how is Mr. Hofmann doing now? I'm sorry I don't speak German but I sense from the last post that he has become more incapacitated. I wish him well. He has given so much joy to so many people thru his music

  • It is a special live performance without an audience afaik. But why should they sing to the audience? It is not a concert but a theatre play.

  • These two burn the stage with their white-hot passion---makes the heart pound!...and these two make it utterly believable that the characters are brother and sister....the most exciting, sexy and wonderfully disturbing Act 1 ever!

  • Wow! Opera doesn't get much hotter than this! :)

  • @rusalkaism Peter Hofmann suffered for many years from parkonsons's desease and died in 2010.

  • @rusalkaism I attended the 1976 production, the third cycle, and forever Walkure will be Peter Hofmann and Jeannine Altmeyer. I know other artists have done just as well, in some productions perhaps better; I don't care. Firstly is the personal association having attended live, but moreover there was such power and chemistry between those two... RIP Peter Hofmann, you are missed.

  • Having heard Jerusalem twice wish i had heard him........ wonderful.........so sad that he departed so early .. i believe was 35 when this was done and would have been 67 this August...

  • He has done it - best ever - !!!

  • E' il seguito del Wintersturme.

    Bello.

  • Is there another person in the vid besides Peter, LOL I can't take my eyes off him. How sad.

  • RIP... hottest Siegmund ever.

And what a beautiful, dark and yet shining voice!

If he was born a baritone, he would've been a great Billy Budd too. Ideal looks... (Oh my, imagine him vs Matti there. Chills!)

  • Hoffmann will be sadly missed...and this was a great performance and production!

  • In Memoriam Peter Hofmann. Er war einer der ganz Großen Wagner-Tenöre.

    A star is gone.
