A Song For Virginia Tech, Not For Cho

I wrote a song called "Mary" a long time ago when Columbine happened. It seemed to voice perfectly how I felt after watching the news and seeing loved ones waiting on their phones for any news...this is for them.

America created Cho Seung-Hui. We are a very selfish nation. Millions of American children with no healthcare..MILLIONS. Millions on minimun wage with NO benifits. Millions of minority people locked in dead end jobs and no money for higher education.

Cho Seung-Hui is a product of our dollar worshiping, violent movie/video game culture.

That's an interesting viewpoint. Wasn't Cho responsible for the decisions HE made? Or is everyone able to blame everything on video games and bad healthcare?

I don't know. I'm sure some of that played into who Cho became, but I also think he made some bad decisions all on his own.

I agree that in general our culture IS dollar worshiping and violent. But their are many great things about American culture as well.

Beautiful song you wrote. It is so sad to see such a tragedy happen at Virginia Tech. Your song wriiten for Columbine certainly is appropriate for this sad tragedy too.
