for the first time since ive heard, mars volta came with lyrics that actually MEANT something. teflon is about a sout american official(might have been an undercover cop) that was found out at some sort of gathering. what they did was put a bunch of tires over him up to his head and then set it on fire. the videos on the interweb somewhere.

their lyrics all mean something. Some of them are commentaries on the improper proccesses of some mebers of the psychology world, some are about human mortality, some are about understanding the deepest parts of our own consciousness. It's a matter of looking into it from different points of view. Some of them from a point of view that I couldn't acheive until smoking weed and experimenting with psychadelics.

i highly disagree. with the proper amount of weed and lsd everything is relevant. doesnt mean there was a concsious desire by the creator of the observed phenomena(ie, the lyrics) for it to be so. there IS a difference between symbolism and mindless, superficial abstraction. i feel cedrics words are more to do with the latter.
