Dazzle Agility Trial - RAT Feb 9th-10th 2008

While rock climbing back in January I took a bad fall and tore my ACL (plus did some meniscus damage as well). Surgery is going to be on the 28th of this month and then it will be a good 6 months before I will be allowed to really run again, and then maybe another 8 months or so before I will be running without a protective brace on my knee.

We obviously won't stop doing agility for that long, so we are just changing how we run. Either having other people run Dazzle, me walking out to the middle of the ring and not moving much, or, our newest idea - doing it from a scooter!

We only got the scooter (from a fellow agility-er) the Tuesday before this trial so we didn't get much time to practice, but Dazzle did just super with it. We actually managed to get 2 Qs during the weekend (one with the scooter, one with Daz being run by another handler - which is also a new thing for her) and Daz finished her O-TN-E title!

We definitely had fun, and will continue to do so while we wait for this silly injury to heal up. :)

An ACL is a ligament that helps stabilize your knee - when you tear it it makes your knee joint likely to buckle when you run.

I am so sorry about your injury, but Dazzle is the most well trained dog in the WORLD! she listens and she has major skill. I will be looking for you at World's!! That scooter was SOO cool!! But not the whole purpose! :)
