In folklore, a Sin Eater is a person who through the symbol of food and drink, takes on the sins of a deceased person, thus absolving his or her soul and allowing that person to rest in peace. While in folklore this act is considered a form of religious magic, there are also some modern-day parallels that can be drawn... Can you think of a time or situation when a "Sin Eater" (scapegoat) was necessary for the benefit of others? Was that person you? What was that like? We focus and touch on these ideas in the video, which gives it a dark, yet beautiful spin about a person who is intended to fail through life for the good of others.
Our video was filmed on location in Chicago and Forest View, IL. Our primary location was a freight railroad tunnel (we weren't at risk, its no longer active!) with some huge graffiti tags lining the walls. We also were granted access to a Forest View shipping yard to film. Indoor footage was taken in a Chicago warehouse.
