Afghan anger at government over civilian deaths - 24 Mar 09

Anger is rising in the north of Afghanistan over the latest killings in an area that was previously considered peaceful.

But, as Al Jazeera's James Bays reports, although the US was responsible for the killings, the target of their anger is the country's government under President Hamid Karzai.

I am so ashamed of being an American when it comes to our foreign policy. We must leave Afghanistan, Iraq and leave Iran alone. It isn't constitutional for the U.S. to think it has the right to police the world! We aren't a God or a savior!

rezaa01- I agree with you!What makes what Bush,Cheney,Rumsfeld worse,is their continual blabbing of how just & proper america is-we don't do torture blah blah!When asked how many dead Iraqis,a US General said,"we don't do body counts".He should've added, 'we don't do the Geneva Conventions either'?Over 1 million dead Iraqis later,people in US still trying to justify this slaughter?Unbelievable!I condemn Australia for its role-I'm ashamed.I don't support our troops either!

SirishT - I recall Bush's statements re warning Saddam Hussein if he didn't abide by Geneva Conventions and treat US military by the International Laws. Bunch of hypocrites.Those who are sent to kill & die are heroes until they're killed or injured.Bush cut back monies to those serving in govt military, while it paid heaps more for those employed by Blackwater-mercenaries?We're educated now re the truth.You're green and if you don't read, happy to stay that way?

No excuses for mass killings and destruction on a mammoth scale! None, ever!

SirishT - No it's much worse than a mistake. The country, the people, the infrastructure, the culture, the health of the people, education, employment - it's all stuffed - just as the US intended-that's why they didn't have a plan for 'after the war'-they didn't intend for a future for the people. It's just premeditated murder on a HUGE scale. Hardly a mistake!
