I actually find it funny that he says how much he does not care that people listen to him. He says that he would sacrifice the acceptance or rather the attention of many people in order to express his own views in a manner that satisfies him. However ironically this same mentality or way of thinking place on him what he would he probably consider a burden to have people listen to him express himself. In short he NEEDS an audience to listen to him tell them that he does not care about them.
