I keep reading how awesome a big block trem up upgrade is supposed to be, but I've never heard the proof. The comparo vids I've seen are inconclusive at best. Same deal with the anodized pickguard, lots of people think it robs tone. It could be I just got Luckie, but My CV '50s sounds exactly like the records I grew up loving(except I can't play quite as good as those Fellers!;)) So I'm taking the 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it" road.

I bet you had a boner behind that guitar mate :D

@MyHeartBeatsRnR I think you thought Id blocked it off with a bit of wood! I buy my trem blocks of a guy who makes them to order on Ebay,,, if you are in the UK just search Fender Stratocaster and you will see his sale. They are about £24 and they also solve the wobbly bar handle problem too. Tell him the model,, they fit perfectly,,,, Hot Tip,,, when taking it all apart mark on the positions of the bridge saddles in pencil to preserve your intonation!!

@steve1969pierce ah ok, then i misunderstood you. But thanks for the hint, because that will maybe be my next guitar.
Greetings

For £25 it is a better upgrade than even the pick ups,,,I would do this on any strat.

@MyHeartBeatsRnR Hi, Thanks,,, you probably know this already, but just to clarify. The trem block itself was upgraded. The Squiers and Mex Strats all have rather flat sounding zinc alloy trem blocks, the squier ones are very thin too. I upgraded this one and the one on my Fender strat to a 1018 COLD ROLLED STEEL one,,, once you have done the change over you can immediately hear the improvement in tone acoustically. Plugged in you have a richer, more complex note tone and better sustain.

great, but blocking the tremolo is no upgrade in my opinion ;)

@elvisaggy its a 50's vibe and the OD was a Ibanez TS5 on the TS9 setting I believe!!
Great video. I too have seen/heard the difference the bigger trem block makes. I had a question: do you know if a mexican trem block would fit the squier bridge?

@hetfield2x4 dont think so,, there is a guy on ebay who makes them, you specify what you want it for and it comes back the right size,,,, though the guy who sets up my guitars said the one on my Fender Strat was ever so slightly wrong,,,
