let it grow and collect onion seeds galore

@gerryboy3699 You break the cloves apart and plant them individually.

@Praxxus55712 hi there, should i plant the whole bulb or just the clove of garlic?
-
I'll try that thanks

When I saw this post, I did this with some onions that sprouted in my veg basket. I dunno, the the bulbs are soft now and I'm a little scared to eat any green from the top. I think these are headed for the compost bin. I did plant some onion sets though and they're coming along great.
Can't wait to make some spinach dip when I thin them out!

You can get tons of greens from planting garlic cloves also. The greens from onions and garlic are delicious and milder than the bulbs. Love the background sounds of the birds! :)

Thanks for that ifo. I did a few myself and they were wonderful. Good reminder.

When I by sring onions, I simply cut them about 2cm from the roots, store them back in the fridge and when the whole bunch is used, plant them out. They come up over and over again, but I usually discard after two years and plant in another bed for rotation purposes. They taste stronger than the ultra fast grown bunch intially store bought. They can also be planted much closer together than brown onions.

can you do this in pots, and how many would you put in ..
I do a few things in pots, so plants that need a lot of sun can be moved about and I can grow some things out of season, I live in the Mt's in N.S.W
