  • That APT looks simply fantastic...

  • Look at this! Brilliant British Engineering at its best! Love it! Not a single piece of Italian stuff in sight! And to add, an APT! If this world was fair, we should have been the leading hand in tilting train technology and we could have sold these trains to the Italians and the Americans, but the world unfortunately isnt that fair! =-(

Great video, Absolutely Priceless, love every bit of it!

  • That shot of the APT speeding past is a fantastic sight. It's a shame I wasn't alive back in 1984. I'm sure I'd have loved travelling on it.

I genuinely think that Crewe Heritage Centre should restore the APT to main line working condition and have it work excursions along the West Coast Main Line. There's no reason why it can't be done, surely?

  • My God. I love the old class 86's & 87's, but when the APT cruises through, it was effortless. A magnificent sight, even with a shortening rake of rolling stock. Where did it all go wrong eh? The APT should be cruising on the WCML now! Heartbreaking.

  • Great tilting footage of the APT. Brill! Thanks for sharing

  • Winter 1984 I was invited on a test run of the APT.

I was able to take a passenger run on April 10th 1985 and the difference in increased reliablility was very apparent.

With more money for testing and with less pressure to get the prototypes into revenue earning service i belive we would have had a world beating service.

I still have my "black pass", boarding cards and tickets from the APT journeys I made.

  • just a pleasure to watch , thankyou for posting filmwork of wcml and apt-p in action

  • Anybody who says today's railways are better is talking b******t

  • What a gem bit of footage. Fantastic stuff getting APT-P, well done 5* & a Fav.

  • Great Video, 5 Stars! Sadly 86,245 is due to be scrapped at EMR Kingsbury :(

  • Concorde, APT, Humber Bridge... at that time we really did rule the world with our engineering.... I was only a kid, but damn it makes me sad and annoyed...
