Rufus- Our Bernese Mountain Dog

This is Rufus. He is a 10 month Bernese Mountain Dog and weighs about 6stone. We found out on Feb 14th that he unfortunately has hip, as well as elbow, dysplasia.

i have a burnese and i have also read and heard that it is very common for some reason for this breed to have this problem best of luck to u guys...say hi to rufus!

its common in all berners the bills and such get cheaper as you go then more costly again man i have a berner thats 12 i dont even remember him being that small

we just found out today that our 13 month old bernese has elbow dysplasia too. i hope rufus gets on ok with his and it doesnt cause him too much trouble

Thank you for the comment. Rufus doesn't let it affect him too much, he just gets away with lying on the sofa more.
Hopefully your bernese won't have any future problems.

hip and elbow displaysia? Poor guy. Is he from a breeder or pet store? Are his parents hips and elbows checked? He's very cute though, I'm wishing you all the best luck with him!

He was from a breeder and we were told both parents hip and elbow scores wich were very good.
He seems pretty happy at the moment though.
