John Bernard immigrated to Tejas, Mexico, which is today Texas, and received 4,428 acres. To receive land they had to become Mexicans and swear allegiance to the Constitution of 1824 that Santa Anna, the self imposed dictator, was in oppsosition to. Just about as far as you can see was his land which he never got to live on because he was killed by Santa Anna's indians. His wife, then his daughter, eventually received it a few years later and it was divided up and sold after her death.
