FIBA Mechanics of Officiating - Three Person Officiating
■ Officiating is being in the right place at the right time to make the right call;
■ Positioning is the key factor;
■ Go where you need to go to see the play;
■ Three person requires you to work for "good looks."
The referees must:
■ constantly work to improve their angles and analyze the whole play;
■ to stay connected to a play from start to finish (start -- development -- conclusion).
In this play situation (FAR130011), the Centre Referee must:
■ adjust to keep good angles and good spacing;
■ create the best available open look (open angle);
■ stay with the drive all the way to the basket.
In this play situation, the Centre Referee has a better angle to call the foul than the Lead Referee.
