@hkfreak I can never get why you are such a fucking troll and why you ask stupid fucking questions.

@hkfreak go away troll. You don't live in Philadelphia and don't know anything about KYW. Fucking go away.

@jrbarrie83 Westinghouse/CBS left everything alone, and KYW carried on with their traditional logo even after the merger. Viacom purchased the combined company, and 3 years later, they just had to change things up. I don't mind the CBS 3 branding, but had Viacom not come in and purchased the company, I'm sure KYW would still have the old logo and they'd still be using this package, or at least an updated version.

ha bet no one noticed their names were backwards

This is by far KYW's best. I wish they used this for all cbs stations instead of the bland "enforcer" garbage they're all using now. Why take all of the personalization away from these stations - isn't that what people identify with?? I hate that our KDKA switched now too. I'll be really upset if they ever start calling themselves CBS2! That's just stupid.

This JUST slightly beats WPVI in the Philly News open race. Shame that the standardization bug spread to CBS and forced all of it's stations to adopt the god-afwul blue.

All I can say is, these were desperate times for KYW. They were willing to try anything to get a bigger audience. I mean, this moment in time, in particular, tweaked stuff so many times. It wasn't until early 2003 that KYW started to turn around, let alone going from KYW3 to CBS3. Things really started taking off in September later that year, when Larry Mente and Alicia Lane joined CBS3. And now, CBS3 is on the heels of 6ABC, constantly beating them during non-sweeps periods at 11pm.

the wpvi open OWNS this

Maybe someone noticed, but the anchor title bars are switched in the beginning...
Without Action News, this is most certainly the best News Open in the Delaware Valley. Better than a lot of the WCBS news opens.

This was my favorite opening for KYW-TV. What they used in the mid 80s with Danny Dark doing the voiceover comes in a close second.
