In this Juan O'Sullivan's Tip Of The Week, we clarify that the bottom line is that if you don't spend the time supporting your plants, you have wasted a lot of time.
Why? Using wire tomato cages on tomatoes and peppers:
1. Keep the plant upright and the produce off the ground.
2. Support keeps the plant leaves off the ground where they can pick up soil borne disease.
3. Gives our back a break by keeping the produce that we are picking higher in the plant.
4. Supports allow for better air flow through the garden to avoid plant viruses. Air flow in the garden is critical.
5. Using a 16' long and 5' tall cattle panel allows you to intertwine the tomato leaves into the panel and also have something to tie renegade foliage up to.
this is shit straight up
