@bartjuhh12 Snare hit is premature every time... And I'm not saying Busta's is perfect. It couldn't be and it's not. The melody was played with rubato so it didn't adhere to a strict tempo. But Everybody Rise sounds tighter because Busta's drums adhere to a strict tempo that are evenly quantized.
No way to have it all line up perfectly unless the drums shifted tempo in unison with the melody.

@Apathesis0 What the hell? sloppy? out of time? that record is great. nothing sloppy or out of time on it. dr dre just replayed the sample and gave it a whole other sound.
-
@Adam2012 Yeah, except those guys often handle it much better. And since this song does not line up perfectly well with a well-timed drum loop because it doesn't adhere to strict tempo, it sounds really off when paired with a sloppy drum arrangement, and I don't like it.
It's just my personal preference. I don't need perfect time. I LOVE FUNK.
A great example of offbeat drums is Hadizzle by 9th Wonder. Fire!
-
@Apathesis0 It's a production style, never probably heard of J Dilla, Madlib, MF Doom, Flying Lotus etc? Same offbeat drumstyle. But true, good beat by Nottz on the Busta-track as well.

The production on Snoop's version is fucking sloppy and out of time. Busta's version fucking embarrasses the rest.
-
@batman05655 That beat IS fucking fire. Still love it to this day.
