On Sunday night, May 24th, 2009, Jessica Amen and Kyle Kushners apartment (near Goshen & Barry Avenue) was devastated by an enormous fire, in which, they lost everything they owned and loved, including one of their beloved cats, Riggs.

Doakes, their remaining cat, jumped three stories to the street below where he was found 20 hours later and rushed to the emergency room at the West Los Angeles VCA and was treated for severe second, third and fourth degree burns.
