Herr Engineering Pitts Special Biplane - kit built - Powered by: O.S. .15 LA / Fuel: 15% Cool Power / Servos: 4 x HS-81 / 1 x HS-55 - throttle / Rx: Hitec Micro 05 / Rx Pack: RadicalRC 370mAh 4.8V NiMH - added ailerons to upper wing and built bolt-on wing mounts. Left off the wheel pants and spinner to save weight. 31oz AUW dry. Great little flier! Was impressed by how quiet this setup is and it flys very stable. Wife's first time filming a plane. She did pretty well. :-)

  • First off, nice plane! I just found your build thread and I have studied it very closely. I have been thinking about buying and building this kit and I am considering some modifications of my own. I was wondering if you think the top and bottom ailerons are a little too much or did setting the low rates tame the squirrelyness?

  • @mgs6679 Thanks for the kind words. Low rates helped with the squirrelyness. I'd set them by the manual suggestions for high rates and then set your low rates for a bit less. Being my first bipe, seeing the pairs work together was pretty cool. Main thing I had to get used to was the wind knocking it around. Being my first small scale plane vs a Sig Somethin' Extra and and LT40, it was a new experience.

  • what percent of nitro do you use for this engine?

  • I run 15% Cool Power in this engine.

  • My father in-law is looking for landing gear co-lings for the K-507 kit pitts special. Can anyone help phone # 321-264-2488 is not right need contact info for herr engineering. Thanks

  • Contact Sig Mfg... they own Herr Engineering now and can sell you the cowling parts separately.

  • love it! just got an O.S. .15cv-a. Can't wait to run it. Nice camera work too.

  • I like the old guy in the background, "look at that f@#ker go!"

  • Just read the build thread and was glad to find this video as you never stated in the thread how it flew. I just ordered one of these and am more excited to get it built than I was before. awesome little plane. Great job.

  • Congrats on building and flying this little pitts. Quite an accomplishment! I built a bunch of little pitts special kits around that size (36 inch wingspans and .25 engines) in the 80's and 90's and know how hard they are to fly, especially at a crowded airfield where you have to make your take-off run while standing way back.

  • Love little gas powered RC like this, have my own .15 runs great in models up to 4 feet ws! (very economic high endurance).

Hey! why not to mention camera wife/girlfriend in movie credits!

She said she tryed, but I think did perfect job! My wife is also my camera-woman!!

    congrats from south america.

Not easy to fly little things in strong winds!
