St Mary's church in Adderbury England. Charlotte and Chris Holmes invited us to the church tower to witness the bell ringing. It was Fantastic!!! There are eight bells, ranging from an 1100 lbs little one, to the 2400 lbs biggy. The oldest was cast in the early 1600's.

No. I do not know where he was. This was on a Saturday afternoon wedding.

  • @irkibby Thanks for this comment. This outing yesterday was a huge success, very enjoyable, great bells, and Hookey was a great place to finish... never mind the bells (though I have a vid of some absoloutely fantastic spliced to come!!) everybody wanted to go to the pub and drink Old Hookey!! Even had a guy come up from Devon for the outing/pub!! I have vids of all 4 towers to upload, and I hope you enjoy them when I get them on!! :)

Bloxham have a nice old sound, they go ok but have a very long draught, naturally! Banbury are an easy going, quality Taylor ten, oddstruck if i remember correctly but definately worth a visit. Adderbury are a very good old sound, the low ceiling can cause problems for some people. and Hook Norton are absolutely magnificent! I do have video of them... go well and a must visit!! Hope you can get them

  • @irkibby Looking at doing at doing an outiing round there - what were Bloxham like? And have you been to Banbury, Adderbury or Hook Norton? What are they like?

  • @simonbellringer I did not ring with the group, but Chris did teach me the touch needed to ring the bells properly. It was a great experience. John

  • @simonbellringer Pity. What were they like to ring (Bloxham AND Adderbury!!)

  • @simonbellringer

These are indeed very fine bells in a magnificent church. I have rung at Bloxham but didn't have my camera back then.

  • Wow! These sound nice! Dont suppose you've got one of Bloxham (8, 26cwt, Heaviest GF RIng if im right.)
