Celebrating the Anexation of Guanacaste this last weekend were national golfers as well as international golfer who came out to participate in one of Guanacastes key fundraising events, the Guanacaste Classic.


In its sixth consecutive year, the Guanacaste Classic Golf Tournament, which is organized by both golf resorts,Reserva Conchal and Hacienda Pinilla, for their corporate social responsibility programs, were able to raise $10,000 for CEN-CINAI, an organization that helps more than 1,000 mothers and children under 5 years of age. These centers provide food, and daycare programs for families of low income levels as well as providing nutritional assistance to pregnant and lactating mothers.


This year the CEN-CINAI centers benefiting from the tournament were Santa Rosa, El Eden de Cartagena, El Llano and Tempate de Santa Cruz. Over 100 golfers participated along with the sponsorship of 30 businesses.


The weekend- long tournament kicked off at Reserva Conchal Golf course, a Robert Trent Jones II course, with a full day of golfing on Saturday, where fantastic weather conditions made for a wonderful day at the golf course. On Saturday night, the $10,000 check presented by both golf resort representatives. Was given to the Director of CENCINAI, Zarai Garcia


Sunday was another exciting day at the golf course in Hacienda Pinilla, where golfers completed the tournament. An awards ceremony and typical style fiesta with folkloric dancers in honor of the Anexation of Guanacaste made this year's Guanacaste Classic a complete success and a truly enjoyable weekend in the northern pacific region of Costa Rica.
