I can't believe how much response this video has gotten.... The song is called Slippin, and it is one of my favorite original tunes, but no lyrics. Aside from so many wonderful comments, many of you have asked me in the comments and in personal messages to please share the tab for this song. Ha ving never "tabbed" anything before, this was a challenge, but in an effort to make you all happy, I have tried. It is not "great" but, I will also be creating a video response to my own video with more detailed instructions on how to play Slippin. I hope this helps everyone!
Basically it quite easy. The chords are only G, D, C and Am7, with a few slides down the A string. Same exact pattern whether picking individual strings or strumming the chords. Here it is:

Picking
A --2--3--2--0--2h--2--0--| 0 - play open
E --3--------------------3--2--| 2h - hammer on
C --2--------------------2--2--|
G --0----------------------------| Played 2X

A --3--5--3--0--2--0--|
E --0--------------3--2--|
C --0--------------2--2--| Played 2X through
G --------------------------|

I didn't write out the full verse each time (thus the 2X's) just to save space here. But that is essentially it. After playing it through with the individual notes, I begin to strum it. Exactly the same though.

Strumming
Chords would be G, C, G, D, G, D for the first bit of the strumming. Pretty straight forward. Played through 2X

Next bit I am unsure the "technical" name of one of the chords, but it goes like this C, ?? (A string 5th fret, rest open), C, Am7, G, D.

I hope that helps everyone!

If you feel like giving it a try, please make a video and post it as a video response so I can see how you rock it!

  • have you tuned this to gcea its sounds cool there pricey though there chattin £170 ill be gettin one in a week or so cheers man

  • yep, tuned to standard C tuning. And yep, they are a little pricey. I paid about $300US 7 years ago for mine direct from the manufacturer. But that also included a pocket amp (which is great!) Only difference between this and a standard soprano uke is you will need to use Tenor strings, as the sopranos aren't long enough. Happy rockin!

  • hi there is that a soprano uke

  • Yep, it is in fact a soprano. It has 14 playable frets only because it doesnt have a body to get in the way.

  • thanks for your feedback. also, what is the sound like without an amp? are those nylon strings? thanks again! you sure are popular on here!

  • Yep, nylon strings. That's what it came with so that's what I replaced the originals with. Though I had to use tenors strings as the soprano ones I had lying around were too short. Without an amp there is very little sound, more a gentle twang only you can here. Perfect for practicing late at night or on a plane/bus full of people. Mine came bundled with a little pocket amp, which is amazingly nice, so I could quietly rock at all hours.

  • Funny how you find things on YouTube you never looked for before. Must say nice demo and cool song. From Alberta. Peace!

  • I WANT ONE my current "eletric uke" is a really raw sound as its just a soprano nylon 20 quid job with an eletric guitar tuner pickup mic thing plugged into a bass guitar amp and turned up really loud. it sounds ok and is full marks for improvisation but thats about it.

  • Nice Stratocaster. And if people in the background get too loud, you can just turn up the volume.

  • awesome
