During the 1999 holiday season, before non-traditional marketing was traditional, tbd of Bend, Oregon, put a turkey on a snowboard instead of a dinner table as part of their promotion efforts for Mt. Bachelor — Oregon's most popular ski area. The footage hit the wire, and it started popping up on news stations around the globe. Mt. Bachelor realized about $10 million in media exposure, and it cost them only $15,000.
