  • What´s that? I always thought, Des Grieux was a young man, but shicoff makes him an old one. Horrible!

  • Des Grieux is one of the most difficult tenor roles in the italian repertoire. Shicoff is not the youngest anymore but he sings it very well. Would you prefer a younger tenor who cannot sing the role vocally?

  • This man is a singing artist and any vocal questions are subsumed by intelligence which is often conspicuously lacking today

  • Shicoff is a great singer and a great actor!

  • The Carmen was in 1988 with norman on studio recording

  • Ehm... would you please post "Pazzo son" also?

  • Naturally I mean 32 years old not 323! Any how check out the DVD available of his 82' Boheme from Covent Garden, a clip is on you tube The Carmen by the way was 1988 (recorded) in Paris with Norman. He does not look like an old man here in his mid 50's and for that matter in 05' just 3 years ago he sang in Tosca a performance that brought the Chicago opera house too their feet yelling BRAVO's with Millo, at his age when many singers still have some great nights, that was one of them. BRAVO

  • It may be a matter of taste but I hate young tenors who NEVER COULD SING. What tenor as a lyric such as Neil at the same age do we have today ? Compare him at 323 years old to Alagna or Leech and how long did they last? He started in opera in 1975 big time and last month sang a very fine Grimes I am told in Vien./ by people in the know, other singers. When did you hear Pavoratti sing Lescaut? or Corelli for that matter, for a good one in the 50's then you needed Tucker, Bjoerling- Bergonzi

  • Yes I agree the Werther,79' Boheme,82' Carmen from 1988 Great all of them and also try the 82' Romeo, terrific but now he sings mostly roles like Grimes and Juive, Queen of Spades also and is singing quite often in Europe where he lives with wife Dawn (WHO WAS A WONDERFUL SOP) and His Son.

  • The Carmen spoke of by another post here was recorded in 1988 and very beautiful. Shicoff and Norman, Freni also.

  • if you don't like it move on and shut up.

  • I heard him sing Tosca in 05 with Millo in our huge opera house, about the size of the met. He was having a great run, looked younger and sang with big ringing tones, brought the house down. Here he still has some fine moments. His 1990 Chicago Carmen and 86 Lucia with Gruberova where sensational, also complete DVD of that 82 boheme in london.
