Short clip from a drive down CA Highway 178 in the lower Kern Canyon. The road's combination of rocky cliffs, river (dam controlled) and dramatic vistas make a great option for the driver who enjoys twists and turns. Bits of the road are technically located in the Sequoia National Forest, but you won't see any spectacular trees --the road, mountain and river are more than enough-- bigger trees start appearing in the upper Kern Canyon north of Kernville, which offers similar driving with less rocky cliffs.
Over the years, they've widened a few of the turn-out and curbs to make the road a little less dangerous (it's a fairly busy road). The road connects Bakersfield to Lake Isabella and points beyond (Ridgecrest, Kernville, etc).
The footage is from the passenger seat of a Bentley Continental Supersports.
