Ensoniq Mirage Sound Demo

This demo uploaded louder than my original, PLEASE ADJUST YOUR VOLUME ACCORDINGLY!!This demo contains sounds from a single Mirage DSK-8. (This was the original Mirage with the horrible Pratt/Whitney keyboard, but a superior all metal case.) There is a minimum of fx applied to the demo. It's ran COMPLETELY thru the Mirage, using the sequencer expander cartridge on the DSK's ONE track sequencer. An external Arppegiator was used. That it! Enjoy....

Hey I thought the Mirage sequencer isn't included on the MASOS OS just on the regular OS? How did you you sequence wile using MASOS?

The sequencer is indeed disabled when you boot with a MASOS disc. I dont use most of the MASOS features (Reversing, etc) I use it for the multisampling features. So, I rarely need to boot with a MASOS disc. I boot with a standard Ensoniq sound disc, THEN, load the desired multisampling blank wavesamples 2/4/or 8 off the MASOS OS. This gives me access to the sequencer.

Is it all done live by Mirage alone (+ the FX you've mentioned) or recorded on several tracks? I've got Mirage but only know how to assingn two samples to yeach half of the keyboard. Can the keyboard be split to more?

Yes, this is all Mirage done on a single track overdubbed about three times if I remember. You need to have the MASOS( Mirage Advanced Sampler Operating System) disc in order to turn this into a multisampler capable of up to 16 samples. It makes the sampler alot more functional. Syntaur products sells this disc, You also need the sequencer expander cartridge if you wanna make more than 333 steps.Bolth can also be found on Ebay. If you need help let me know! Wow, that's some serious old school industrial flavor your kickin' there. Awesome work! I think Skinny Puppy used this sampler and I might pick up one now after watching this. Probably not the most practical thing to use these days but sometimes you just want to work with the same stuff your influences used.

Thanks alot! I have more modern samplers(Akai MPC 2500, Korg Triton) I was just bent on making a demo using only a Mirage as I couldnt find any noteworthy examples on the Tube. Ive owned my Mirage keyboard for close to 20 years and more recently a rack as back up. They are a sampler with alot of personality. Especially if you dig in to the editing wich uses REAL analog VCF's and VCA's, those alone justify having one for that gritty eight bit sound, Pick one up! Skinny Puppy would be proud of u

I keep seeing "bit crusher" on various soft synths that supposedly give the sound an 8-bit sound. They all suck balls. You want real 8-bit? Buy real 8-bit, and the Mirage delivers!

I have Mirage rack. I love it.

But sometimes it don,t turn on well - capricious :)))

I don,t know what,s wrong! But if it turn on - works fine.
