  • The earth's atmosphere is opaque in the infrared. That is why you need satellites, balloons, or airplanes for infrared observations. Check out videos on NASA's SOFIA program.

  • haha...infrared can get through the atmosphere, it can't get out. bad phrasing, that's all.

  • interesting video except 1st they said infrared can't get through the atmosphere then they show pictures of the stars through an infrared camera? or were those both supposed to be satelite images?
