Debate Question - Do you support a carbon tax?

I'm Andrew Chalnick from Short Hills, New Jersey. My question is about a carbon tax. The use of fossil fuels is responsible for global warming, mercury in our fish, soot and ozone in our air, oil spills in our water and the degradation of many natural areas. Moreover, America's continued use and dependence on foreign oil is a national security threat. Economists uniformly agree that a sizeable tax on the carbon content of fossil fuels is the best way to address all of these problems by incenting the use of cleaner energy sources. As president would you support a carbon tax?

Why make everyday people pay for the damage cause from big corporations raping the planet and causing the most environmental damage? Look at GM for example blocking any development of the electric car just because it made big oil business people very nervous. Ya, lets tax a greenhouse gas that makes up less than 1/3 of 1 percent of our atmosphere.  I hate to think what the water vapor tax will look like, good grief.

i think your argument is putting too much co2 into the atmosphere maybe $50 to plant a tree might make amends.

Maybe if they stopped putting mercury in vaccines that would mean less use of our resources and less children getting autism hey thats a win win and it means no tax
