DIR: Michael Addis
PROD: Michael Addis, Jamie Kennedy
CO-PROD: Chris Roletter
ED: Tom McArdle, Alex Ward
FEATURING: Jamie Kennedy, David Cross, George Lucas, Bill Maher, Mike Ditka, Rob Zombie

Although the exact details have been lost to history, one imagines that the first critic judgment was closer in form to a Bronx cheer than to Aristotle's Poetics. Both significant and uproariously funny, Michael Addis's documentary focuses on this age-old antipathy between performers and their audiences, exploring where it comes from and what it ultimately means. Addis gets ample help from a wide-ranging group of interviewees and his master of ceremonies, actor/comedian Jamie Kennedy, who is something of a Zelig of contemporary critical loathing. Kennedy is so maniacally driven to get an explanation for the hate he engenders that he reads some of his worst notices back to their authors, in person. Their resulting equivocation, not to mention our discomfort, is worthy of Larry David, or perhaps a White House press secretary. As Addis and Kennedy deepen their investigation, they discover that in the 21st century, criticism has been democratized in ways that are both inspiring and terrifying. Brutal, brash and surreal, HECKLER is a film that will challenge you as it delights. Just be careful what you post about it when you get home...

  • Man that Jon Perry was a smug asshole in the movie.

  • I saw this movie. I personally think hecklers and most critics (keyword CRITIC, not a talented reviewer) are full of shit. However, in this movie, Jamie Kennedy got a little out of hand and acted a little childish over most of it.

  • lol the ego on theses clowns

  • GET OFF THE STAGE!!! no jk, this is gonna be great cant wait. Maliboo!!

  • Okay, I agree that hecklers in the audience who think they're funnier than the guy on stage are annoying, but I really don't know what to say about following every single criticism on the internet, everyone gets bitched at by annonymous tough guys on the internet, and the sensible response is not to freak out about every little thing. And Uwe Boll? Really, I don't even think there is anything out there that can really justify defending Uwe Boll from criticism.

  • LOL, somebody punched bobby lee in the face??

  • Everything's eventual....just like Stephen King pointed out.

  • There is a difference between constructive criticism and just acting the hero. If you don't like a comic's style don't attend the show. So may of these people just go there to get their 30 seconds 0f fame then they are sort of shocked when the comedian comes up with something to about them. I love watching the comedians say something about the heckler then that they soon shuts up. If you can't dish in don't dish out!
