@Stratognat I love Les Pauls for a more modern take on jazz. Nice playing guys! This is a tough tune to play in a trio but you really dug in.

Great trio here! Perfect! :o)

@Stratognat I think tone is in your mind and in your fingers, no specific guitar required
-
Thumbs up for fingerpicking on an electric guitar

@Stratognat No need for an archtop. Put on the neck pickup alone, roll off some high end...bingo, jazz tone. In fact, jazz tone with sustain.
-
That's not a Les Paul. One can get a good Jazz tone out of a Paul because of it's great tone control. Agreed . Not like an arch top. Yes. A litle on the bright side.

Better to call it based on Jobim's Triste because it is different enough from the orignal to be a totally different piece of music. Still if you aren't expecting to hear Triste, it's a very well done performance.

I'm suddenly craving seafood. And dancing with a pretty girl on the docks of some island restaurant in the late afternoon/early sunset.

Why a les paul? Not a good jazz tone. You need a hollow body arch top. Otherwise, nice playing.
