How to make Puerto Rican coquito, an eggnog-like drink that's traditionally drunk and very popular during the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays. Coquito is an alcoholic drink made with rum and coconut.

  • Need your help... I followed your recipe for coquito and it came out too sweet.. not like what I'm accustomed to. I noticed in your video you didn't add any water, I also know you can use carnation as whole milk without diluting it with water.. but is that the reason it's too sweet. I also tried using less cream of coconut, but that didn't help. plz tell me what to do

  • @lionrules17 hmmm...I don't find it too sweet myself, but perhaps it's just a personal preference. I don't dilute it or add any water, you're right. You might just have to play with the recipe to get it to your liking. Maybe use less cinnamon or only one kind of milk. Good luck!

  • thanks for the recipe!

what kind of bottle do you recommend to pour the finished mixture into it? also what brand of rum do you recommend?

    thank s:)

  • I usually use Bacardi, but my brother prefers Don Q. Both are Puerto Rican rums.

You can just use an empty rum bottle, wine bottle, or even a milk container.

  • Can i make this without rum? or can a pregnant woman drink some?

  • she has got it all wrong!!!!!!!!!! she is missing a lot of things and you don't put all of that in a....girllllllllllllllll you need to look on youtube and learn how to really make it. This is not how you make it....folks. what you are making is nasty

Sabroso! Felicidades! ;)

  • @lionrules17 you should try using less condense milk because that stuff is super sweet.

  • @chuito6 that's right, my mom has made it from actual coconuts before but to do it more quickly she just buys coconut milk lol

  • To lionrules17: The sweetness mentioned before comes from 2 sources, either the cream of coconut or the sweetened condensed milk. If you add water it will still be sweet, but thinner. On the video, you see she doesn't add the entire can of the sweetened condensed milk. Next time, put a half can of the coconut and half can of the sweetened condensed milk, then adjust to taste. Sweetness is judged by the individual. Think of how many packets of sugar you use in your coffee? Hope this helps.

  • Thanks :)

  • thank you for the video! =) Happy holidays from Chicago =)

  • @chuito6 I've heard of some people that make it this way from scratch, but know many many more that make it with the canned milk. Even 20+ years ago when I was growing up in PR, that's the way my family members made it. I'm sure it tastes even better from scratch!
