I am familiar with the movie and my father has the book. Be aware that, like all movies, it has been "glamourized" and done in the "hollywood" way with not all details being true to form. And that comes from my Dad was WAS there and has seen the movie many times. good movie, though, I admit. :)

As far as i´m educated the Devils Brigade took a long march and climbed a F****** steep mountain in the middle of the night to take a pinpoint in the wehrmachts defense..... they took the top in hard fights and in doing so opened a corridor for the rest of the army.... they fought hardened Paratroopers and won... they earn respect... they may have shortened the war by a few months and saved lives... i bow my my head....

@Rustedhook Outdid us in fire power? iddnt rly know what to do with it haha 88 cannons nailing the coast line and pill boxes with mg's and we still over ran them and marched across europe and handed berlin to the soviets on a silver blood soaked platter. Germany wasnt shit back then. Even my grandfather said the germans fought like pussies and couldnt hit targets. one bullet could kill a german, german needed 50 bullets to come even close.

Tough talk from a bunch of arm chair generals who weren't there to even born for that matter. taking 73% casualties and still fighting is tough and should be commended. Being part of the force at Thermopylae that held off the Persians like the 300 Spartans is tough. Sitting on your ass talking about it isn't. At the end of the day the Germans lost without question and had to surrender, end of story as did the Japanese. The valor of their Fighting men is not in question.

EVEN THOUGH, this song has nothing to do with military service or the "Devils Brigade" of WW2, its still cool to remember such an unusual military unit from 70 years ago. I can see that some of what is posted here about that unit isnt factual or leaves out facts of who they were, its still cool to remember them.

Ironic that most of the photos in the video were from the Pacific Theater. Nonetheless, the Devil's Brigade was a valient outfit.

@IceBasset Well, in WWII the german were the most advanced, most organized army. Which, lead to they're downfall. Not to mention, Hitler was a very bad tactician. If the german would have done the smart thing, which would be to by-pass Stalingrad, they would have won. because no one could match them in firepower. But, the Allies fought well in a losing war.
The Devil's Brigade were an elite fighting force from WWII - a combined force of Canadian & US forcemen selected for an operation that was cancelled. The force, called the FIRST SPECIAL SERVICE FORCE, was then utilized in special roles. The Devil's Brigade was the nickname adopted by the media from the comments in a dead German Officer's diary, "we cannot cope with these devils with their painted faces and baggy pants. They are all around us" My dad was one of them. search William Sam Magee
