I ran the source videos through a video enhancer and recompiled them at a higher bit rate. Both the sound and the video are somewhat better(you'll need to watch them in High Quality mode).
This is part 8 of a multi- part tutorial of doing Model Railroad Scenery using extruded construction foam.This the missing part of the series where I spray on the acrylic washes.

Hey man these videos are really really helpful. I had no idea how to make any kind of scenery before this and now I feel like a pro! just one question: how much money did the foam cost for that little mountain you painted in part 7?

When I bought the Foam back in 2003 - 2004 it was about $18.00 for a 4' X 8' sheet 2 inches thick.  I used a little over 1 sheet for that scene.

I've found some huge amounts of foam packing materials at a local farm store and some for this material is 4 inches thick.

I would think old styraform coolers cut up would also work.

really coooooooool!!!!! the second you started spraying your model, it started looking so realistic. i know that takes a lot of time and patience.........something that i don't have........lol.

Very dense. The insulation foam is almost a solid, which is what makes it so good for carving.

hi, these videos are very very very helpful! :) im wondering though, what density is your polystyrene foam? what i mean is, how big are the little balls?

This vid series has been awesome to follow and have really help me start to figure out how to put together a mountain terrain idea I've come up with. Your painting method is ingenious..Simple and relatively quick. Great stuff bud
