well Contalto I've played once(waste of a reed and a few dollars) and if you can imagine playing a berry sax.

They say that a regular clarinet= soprano sax

Alto clarinet= alto sax

Bass clarinet= tenor sax

Contralto= berry

Not too mention the contrabass sax and the saprano clarinet

I guess clarinets were meant to be high saxes low
