  • Thats some real life baby.

  • hmm very close but i think i like dee dee's version better..haha but i could easily change my mind in 2 minutes:)

  • @antiann52

yep, I agree, the Helene Smith's version is better, and god knows I love Irma Thomas

  • just fantasic, the best rendition. esther , of phillips fame, recorded it as well. god bless

  • Irma Thomas and Candi Staton are in my opinion the best female soul singers, just listen to this :)..

  • Everything she sings comes from the heart..Yeah!

  • This is vintage '67 and close to the original. Songs like this and songs like "Got to be a Miracle" on the flipside of "It Takes Two" by Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston don't get air play in smaller markets. I'll give the one by Helen Smith a shot and see how it measure up. Thanks! bilbo2shire

  • There was another version of this song, by a woman named Helen Smith, I think. You all need to year it. She really did it just. I ain knockin this one. But the one by Helen Smith was the first one I heard. So I judged all the ones I heard after that by the first one I heard

  • Thanks so very much for the reply. I believe this song did come out in 1967. WVON made so many Artists Stars. On Saturday WVON would play this kind of music all day. My sister told me there were some recording studios on MIchigan and anoather street downtown and athis is the music they produced. By the way. I grew up on the West Side. Will always remember the 2800 Block of Lexington from 1968. I graduated from Marshall in 1973. HIt me back if you like. THANKS!!! bilbo2shire
