http://www.euronews.net/ Germany and Turkey have been celebrating 50 years of their ground-breaking Labour Pact, the process signed in October 1961 that opened the gates to Turkish migrants to Germany as guest workers.

Hundreds of thousands came, and unexpectedly many of them stayed. Today Germany has a Turkish community of some three million, a third of whom have German citizenship.

It is all part of a nationwide festival during which Germany has said "thank you" to everyone involved.

  • What a ruse. Germany has unemployment problems for it's citizens but it celebrates immigrants that refuse to assimilate? They riot - tear up the streets and abuse citizens but that is fine? The Middle East has plenty of room for Islamic rebels. Time to deport - the treacherous vagrants. Thank you, for posting.

  • @paintlaca I am not saying all Germans are racist in fact I adore Germany for its Cars, Girls, Beer etc..but these Turks are proud of the country they were born in..they just want to provide for the family..after all they contributed to Germany's Industrialized nation which is why it is the 4th largest economy after USA, China, and Japan. If you guys don't like them then that's fine but why treat them like trash like that? is it because they are not european enough?

  • @Anatolian90 i am not racist but if you live among the racists, it is not good for you. leave them alone for your good. germans are harworking people but europe has no future. it is good to leave before it collapses. there may be no euro in next ten years and the biggest economic crisis is on the way. if you happy with the current situation stay wherever you want. if people around you don't like you, why do you have to bear live together. leave them alone.

  • @paintlaca thats really racist.. i am truly offended you are generalizing on all middle eastern Turks because of the fundamentalists? Turks lived in Germany for 50 years. many feel like there is their home of course some feel more Turkish that is because of the Xenophobic mentality certain Europeans have. we also allied with Germany in WW1 and have other important relations that neo-Nazi's and racist Europeans don't want to admit. not to mention Turkish contribution to today's German economy.

  • Germans aint happy with Turks. Now Erdogan told that Turkey is an example for Germany... LMAO What should Germany do? Commit some genocide? Forbid press?

  • It would be good if most of the turkish community go back to their homeland. Maybe german government can start a promotion. For example they give some money to the minorities who accept to leave germany forever. leave germany to germans. next time, if you (germany) need workers again, try to get them from the united states. there are millions of unemployed in the states. and they are absolutely not middle easterner, so you may be very happy to live with them! by the way, i am turko.

  • Merkal is a goofball

  • Cooperate while we overtake your country.
