  • @GunWebsites it didnt have any attachments not even a recoil reducer

  • hows the weight on her? I was handeling a socom at the gun show last weekend and it was pretty darn heavy even with the shorter barrel and nothing on it. I was thinking of getting one but i think ill save up for the scar 17 just to have a lighter assault rifle in 762x51. the only thing i dont like about the scars is everyone bought up all the mags and are now selling them for 100+ dollars!!! kinda like what everyone did with the ak74 bakelites, pisses me off!

  • How'd you get 10-12 in of drop at 600 yards? Maybe with the 130 gr? If a .270 rifle is zeroed at 100 yards your bullet will have to drop ~84 inches with a 180gr at 600 yards. Even if zeroed at 600 it still has to drop that ~84 inches to ~1800 fps. If you own a smart phone look for the isnipe app, a ballistics calculator that doesn't lie. If I got input data wrong let me know but 10-12 in drop at 600 yards sounds heinous

  • @toadecks (2) shortening the barrel of .308 rifle that started at 24" by 1 inch loses 100FPS incrementally until you reach 18 to 16 inches where you lose 200-300 FPS. Rob Furlong who held (now a brit has it) the longest sniper shot record with the Tac-50 changed (on the spot) from Canadian to US made .50 BMG and noticed a flatter trajectory and slight range increase to make that historical shot. The M39 Enhanced Marksman Rifle@2,837FPS using M118LR 175-grain ammo seems to be my answer to own q.

  • @toadecks Its not irrelevant mate. I'm certain early versions of the the M-14 muzzle velocity was ~2800 fps using standard NATO 7.62mm so the M1A basically had higher velocity over the SOCOM by approx ~200FPS due to barrel length. Barrel length plays a big role in muzzle velocity. Think of the german tanks in WW2, The long barreled Panther Aus G 75mm gun had more velocity and penetration power than the tigers 88mm and much flatter trajectory. - it did use special propellant so cartridge idd.

  • @toadecks For remington 130gr soft points the drop is 10-12inches and no i dont memorize ballistic tables all my shooting is from experience

  • @hellwolf882 ok mr knows-everything, whats the bullet drop on a .270 (180grain?) @ 600 yards? you must be really good at memorizing ballstic tables to be able to do that man, I take my hat off to you....

  • @gryzer26 muzzle velocity is determined by the cartridge, not the rifle - so your question is irrelevant really . . . shorter or heavier barrel perhaps might affect the muzzle velocity a tiny bit ?
