This is a video of my home-made arcade cabinet booting up. The quality is terribly, as it was shot several years ago with my Sony Mavica CD-1000 photo camera -- not an ideal machine for shooting video. This shows the boot-up sequence and launch of the custom menu program I wrote for the cabinet.

Cabinet Specs:
Windows 2000 SP4
AMD Athlon 850MHz processor
Turtle Beach Montego II sound card
Toshiba 22" tube television mounted directly into wooden bracers
Happ control competition sticks in a self-designed 7-button layout (works with traditional 4-button Neo-Geo and 6-button CAPCOM)
Car stereo speakers
Sony stereo system driving the speakers
Custom MAME build optimized for Athlon

  • use Linux...More resources=higher quality games!!!

  • Actually, they run about 50% slower on MAME Linux because its video drivers suck for the video card in this machine. But I built this 6 years ago anyway ...

  • XMame works quite nice now ^^ i don't see any diffrance between windows mame and linux mame ;p

  • That's nice. Now run it on a slow computer with crappy hardware you had leftover in a closet. You will see a difference.
