Greta Wassberg o Arne Hülphers in english Boa Noite 1941

Recorded at DG:s studio 9, Alte Jakobstrasse 32, Berlin 20 sept 1941,Greta Wassberg (1904-1996) sings Boa noite (from; That night in Rio) with her former husband Arne Hülphers and his orchestera. Greta Wassberg was married to Arne Hülphers before Zarah Leander and was like Zarah a very good artist. Unfortunately, she left showbizz already in 1943. She emigrated to Canada and died in Vancouver in 1996.

Olle Lindberg (1917-1979) singer and later also bandleader, started his career by playing guitarr, later became voclist at first together with Charles Redland and his orchestera(during 1939/40) , later with Arne Hülphers. Later he worked at SAL the transatlantic boats, and lived in New York some years at the end of forties and a part of the fifthies (I have no photo)

The band of Arne Hülphers (1904-1978) was one of the best swedish bands during the therties. Normaly they played at the Fenix palacy in Stockholm, where also the majority of phots are from. But they also toured at Germany. The band was splited up during the war years.

I also hope so, but, sadly I know the sweds to well, they dont know, like peope in other countries to appriciate ther cultural roots. Look just on a wonderful star lik Zarah. Here is the only thing they know, is to discuss is wether she had any gilt of what happened in Germany during the war or not, they aren't interessted to listen to her art .

You are right. Zarah was an incredible artist. During the war the swedes were jelous of her successes and her german wealth. After the war they didn t want to hear her for some years, then again jelousy that she made money.
