After a bit of a hiatus, I have returned, I experienced some crash problems with my hard drive, but hopefully they are rectified. I have been busy working on my backyard garden. We moved to this house about three years ago and the first year had a small garden plot, about 10 x 10, last year we made it much bigger, about 5 times larger, this year we will more than double what we had last year. With the economy being what it is and with no guarantees that it will be getting better anytime soon, I feel the need to grow more veggies, that way we can dehydrate, can and freeze our crops as well as share them with family and friends. Because, what is better than sharing? Today I show you what we start with and then I will show you each week or so our progress. We have decided to use the squarefoot gardening method developed by mel bartholomew. It is great. I got so excited when I started reading the book, that I could hardly wait to get started. I took this video on April 25, 2009, I will be uploading another vid soon, so you can see what we have since been able to do. Thanks for watching, remember, bloom where you're planted!

  • Everything looks wonderful! I too am an avid gardener, I'm like you, I find it very satisfying. Also, times are getting pretty hard, and gardening can save ALOT of money. I just love your videos! Thanks for sharing!

PS- I think that pink flower you have is a Mandevilla

  • Hey Ebola, thanks for the fyi on the mandevilla. You know, funny thing, had I actually looked at the pot wrapper, I would have seen that it was indeed a mandevilla. : ) Anyway, thanks for commenting and subscribing! Noreen

  • Wow, this is great!!!. I'm just starting to get into gardening my own vegetables and your videos are so inspiring. I got so many ideas from this one. Keep 'em coming.

  • LOve this video Noreen....but " WHERES MY PLATE"???

  • Terrific! I have just planted rhubarb for the first time. Its the 3rd year for my garden and I have 2 patches of asparagus and strawberries. I also have tomatoes, green beans, spagetti squash, peas. Its important to work on self sustaining food sources. For pleasure my husband also planted climbing rose buses that flower every year. We use the lasagna garden method for the veggies.

  • Your garden is awesome!! I love to grow herbs in window boxes..it always amazed me to see things grow lol I love fresh veggies..they r the best! You are so pleasant :) Thanks
