  • Wait that guy wasn't around then was he?

He says, 'Well the date of execution was set, I'll never forget that day.'

'It was miserable, cold, thundery and dark and rainy for days' etc...

  • Of course he wasn't there guys. He's reading an excerpt from a guy that was actually there!

  • Charles I may have been the only king of England sentenced to death by a court but he wasn't alone in dying violently at the hands of his subjects. Edward II, Richard II, Richard III and Henry VI forf instance. Dangerous job sometimes.

  • @StupidWhiteGuys

If a King needs to answer to the people and even those annoying parliamentarians at every turn, then of what power is he, and of what need of he for the throne that is robbed of its divinity?

  • " I remember a thunderclap"

  • @BlindingSteph The guy presenting this is also an artist and reenacts historical stories to make them mor interesting and informative, just like an actor would play Henry VIII in a film, same principle.

  • He was joking. You know, how cool old teachers disparage themselves to lighten the mood a little.

  • @BlindingSteph

    He was joking.

  • God bless Charles Stuart - and God damn Oliver Cromwell.

  • It was his principles and personality that sent him axe, due to his strong belief in the divine right of kings he acted extremely arrogantly when it came to his trial. He refused to recognize the high court of justice, and did not make a defense. Although only minority wanted his trial, he failed to recognize that this minority had the power to determine his fate.

  • I think this guy thinks he was there...he remembers a thunderclap??? past life experience?
