  • @whoo689 If you want essential services, money's gotta come from somewhere.

  • @whoo689 And even compared to the last several decades, tax rates in America are pretty low. Can you IMAGINE going back to 70 or 90% for the highest tax bracket, and not-much-lower rates for all other brackets? Put this tax shit in perspective, righties. Don't buy into the anti-tax propaganda. You're not that bad off. We don't NEED to bitch and complain about taxes every fucking election cycle like our lives revolve around em.

  • @whoo689 Taxes in America really aren't that high. You only pay 35% or less depending on your income bracket for federal taxes. And MOST state taxes are less than 10%, with some of them being 0%. Sales tax tends to be only 6-7%. Property taxes are usually only a few hundred dollars per year. What have we got to bitch about??

You want high taxes? GO TO SCANDINAVIA! Go to Sweden and compare their tax rates to ours. Or even Britain or France. We've got it made compared to over there.

  • @whoo689 They seem to forget or don't think about what those taxes ACTUALLY PAY FOR. They pay for a lot of stuff Americans need, like functioning roads, clean water, clean air, police, fire protection, and so on. Sure, there are some things that need to be cut, but that doesn't mean ANARCHY is preferable to what we have today. Or even that laissez-faire will save us.

  • @whoo689 I dunno if Joe Biden believes it exactly like that, but he WAS trying to counteract the idea that we should ALWAYS lower taxes, as if there's no fair or appropriate rate EVER. Even though we have a LOT of essential services that need to be paid for. That's the sad truth. To this day, Biden probably wishes it would've come out of his mouth differently.

too many people complain about paying taxes, esp. in a nation with taxes as low as ours, without putting shit in perspective.

  • Those are the weakest points EVER. How about arguing on much more salient facts that liberals ACTUALLY believe? most Democrats don't think CAPITALISM in and of itself is bad; they just think it needs tweaking to prevent abuses and work better. They don't think hybrids will "save the car industry." And the "patriotic duty to pay taxes" was ONE quote by Joe Biden during a campaign! One guy.

  • green14m, Its easy to see your a lib. If the US only spends 0.2 it is still far more than any other country in the world! So go complain somewhere else!!!

  • I believe it's human nature to have compassion, people will give willingly even when they think they don't have enough to give.

I put rich in quotes, because what one person views as a rich person, may not be my view.

Is there a set income level to be deemed rich?

I have a house, five cars,(old) etc., but I am certainly not rich, but I am not begging on the street either. But I work hard, my husband works hard. I shouldn't have to fund those that don't want to work.

  • (the usa spends less than 0.2% of its gdp on foreign aid, unless you count the 4% spent blowing up foreign people.)

You do have a say, you get to elect your

    representatives

  • what about the unphilanthropic? If it weren't for taxes they wouldn't give squat

Also why have you put "rich" in quotes, are you implying that there are no rich people?
