I'd always thought that cider should ideally be brewed with a cider yeast, failing that, with a wine yeast, preferably not with a beer yeast and certainly not with a bread yeast. I gained this received wisdom from a book and have since found it not wholly true.

  • How long did it take for him to ferment it and what strength is it. :)

  • @mrhiide Not sure and not sure, but rather strong. I'll ask.

  • What about a ale yeast ? I've been told to try that ? Thanks kris

  • @KRISBREWSBEER Up to now I would have said no, but after tasting this cider I'd have to say I don't know for sure. It'll probably be fine, especially if someone who's tried it has advised you to use an ale yeast

  • That *is* a strong cider! Every time you took a sip, you got blurry!

  • @tarogue1 :-D

  • @BrewTubeUK I use coopers ale yeast with my hard ciders...... I'm not a wine drinker so I find it too dry.... i have a video on my channel for a 5 gallon batch I just made. Beautiful clarity on that cider.

  • Well it's ment to leave it a little sweeter than cider yeast dose , not tried it tho
