@TheAntman1265 good point, there are Frank Sinatra records from the early 60s that blow away "modern" rock recording in terms of production quality. rush just stands out in that they are seroius musicans yet never really had a audiophille level recording to capture that play (ie steely dan aja ect), in fact for the most part they "kill" the music in the studio with computer editing, compression VS playing live in the same room at the same time despite having the talent to do so in one take.
@fendergibs I bet you like 80s hairbands , rap and pop music and anybody thats liked by everyone else that thinks the grammys is music. Or anyone who makes alot of money but doesnt stay true to music as an art.
Its not just this album. I think the last 10 years has without a doubt been the WORST sound production for rock records in history. Not just Rush. It seems this horrible compressed washed out clutered mushy sound came into vogue and many rock bands followed. I just do get it. Noisy, washed out paper sounding drums, commpressed messy mixing unfortunatley became the sound of the 2000`s. The worst sound ever in rock history!
It wasnt a perfect record but it has some moving songs on it. I saw them on this tour it was great see them back together. Nitpick all you want...............
@TheBgaddy I rather listen to neil fart in rhythm than this poorly recorded dreck.

I think it was Steve Albini who started this trend of shitty mushed out noisy sound. Terrible!

@evilfinger66
I believe it was Manfred Mann. They later opened quite a bit for KISS. Like you, I'm a fan from early teens...I'm now 44 years old.
