GENE KELLY - (Recorded in Gene Kelly's Beverly Hills home in 1984 by Scott Douglas MacLachlan)

A friend at Fox paid me to go to Gene Kelly's home in Beverly Hills to record a message from Gene to Cyd Charisse for a TV special honoring her in France. Gene was on my butt from the start, as I was 5 minutes late ("You're late, young man!", and actually did a pirouette, getting out of my way, as I carried the heavy reel-to-reel into his home), but mellowed as I set-up the recorder, and explained I'd been looking on the wrong side of Sunset, left out of the directions.
More intimidating than Gene Kelly, was his 50' X 100' 3 story (vaulted ceiling) living room. Set-up on his intimidating bridge table, my intimidated voice is heard just after my getting a level of Gene's not so intimidating voice.
