Venice, Italy Feat. Piazza San Marco, Doges Palace, Rialto Bridge & Grand Canal Views.

This video features clips from a 3 day stay in Venice. Areas included: The Monaco Grand Canal Hotel Nr. St Mark's Square opposite the domed church of the Maria della Salute, and the customs house, which is topped by a bronze weathervane. The San Marco Basin to the left in front of the hotel patio is the open stretch of water adjacent to the Piazza San Marco and Doges Palace. St Mark's Campanile & the Basilica in St Mark's Square are also featured as are views from the roof. Then on to an area just past the Arsenale (Riva di Ca Dio) where cruise ships pass through giving passengers a glimpse of Venice. A sample of the evening entertainment in the Piazza San Marco is followed by a journey along the entire length of the Grand Canal.

Travelling on a vaporetto (water bus) we see why the Grand Canal has always been Venice's main thoroughfare, it is perfectly natural that many of its finest buildings should line its banks. The first bridge, the Ponte dell'Accademia followed by second bridge, the world-famous Rialto. The church of San Geremia with its distinctive campanile is located a little further on at the junction of the Grand and Canareggio canals; the Palazzo Labia, famous for its Tiepolo frescos, stands next to it.

Venice is a monumental city quite unlike anywhere else on earth. It possesses an unrivalled collection of treasures, mostly concentrated within an area of barely three square miles. If it were possible to walk in a straight line, the average pedestrian could cross the city within an hour, witnessing some of the world's greatest sights.
